Beaches and Bays

The southern Algarve consists mainly of steep coast. Many beautiful bays between the cliffs invite for swimming and relaxing. Hikes and walks are here a special experience.

Along the west coast long, fine beaches can be found, which are also great for swimming, hiking and above all for surfing.

There is also a lot to explore:
Sagres, Cabo São Vicente, light house at the most southwestern point of Europe.

Trip to the grottos

A special experience is a trip to the grottos. With one of the couloured fishing boats you start from the village beach in Carvoeiro and explore the grottos along the steep coast, course Armacao de Pera.

Due to the tides and powerful storms, nature created enormous caves along the steep coast.

Interior of the country

Also the Serra de Monchique, the hilly hinterland of the Algarve, has to offer a lot: a mineral spring, Foia, the highest elevation, and much more.

And you should really stop for a bite in one of the rustic restaurants for a typical meal: like melon with air-dried ham, chicken piri piri, hand made marzipan ...

A several day trip to Lissabon with its sights,
or much more north to the beautiful region Alentejo and to the region of port: Porto.
